- Decide on a topic for the blog post or page.
- Pick a keyword phrase or topic and enter that into Yoast area, which is the space for “focus keyword” under the large writing section. For example, this post’s keyword topic is “step by step guide for better SEO”
- Write the post with a minimum of 300 words and be sure to include your “focus keyword” several times.
- Go to Pixabay and find an image that matches the general concept of your topic.
- Download it to your computer.
- Click the hyperlink on the bottom right of the screen for “Featured Image”.
- Click upload file then select file
- .Find the image you downloaded to your computer and double click it to upload it as your “Featured Image.”
- Copy the focus keyword from before into the area on the right hand side where it says “Alt Text.”
- Create a catchy title for your page or blog post that includes the “focus keyword.”
- Go to the “snippet preview” and click on “edit snippet”. Write a sentence that includes your “focus keyword” that will engage your readers. This will be the line that is displayed on the search engine page under the title
- Evaluate the Yoast Analysis below the draft of your post. Follow the real-time recommendations by adjusting your post accordingly and try to make all of the circles green if possible.
